Is it Me II?

Fairy Lesley.

Tonight’s the night (Monday) for the first rehearsal of the principals in Jack and the Beanstalk and much excitement abounds. Normally we have chorus rehearsals on a Monday and Principals on a Wednesday but we have had to swap it for the first couple of weeks due to a prior commitment of our Musical Director, Neil. What will happen? Probably a read through of sorts or maybe even a get on the stage and show we what you’ve got scenario. I always like to be as much off book even at this early stage but Pantoland Scripts were notoriously hard to achieve the off book status. Particularly when they are liable to change. I can relax this year and watch others as I am not in this one.

What a Gorgeous Pair!

So in the absence of current rehearsal pictures, I am going to whet your appetite with some of last year’s colourful antics. The panto was Puss in Boots and was a great success. It was the first opportunity for Gary Jones to direct and he brought some fresh and exciting ideas to the show. Audiences went away happy and no-one can forget the audience participation song the Time Warp. It was needed to generate enough energy to get us teleported from the dungeon to the top of the castle and every night of the week you raised the roof.

Welcome Back Doreen

This show sees the return of Doreen Cockshott to the directing ranks and we are looking forward to her offerings. Apparently she has already worked out the UV scene so it should be a good one. Even now discussions are taking place about cloths, scenery, sets, lighting, props, costumes and sound in order to provide the best quality show we can. No expense spared. By the way, I will let you know who the back end of the cow is when I find out! Just in case you are interested.

Enjoy your Christmas and let the new year settle in before we embark on the 2011 Urmston Musical Theatre Pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk. Full of fun and frolics with all the features expected of a traditional family pantomime. As always, support your local theatre.
